Features of Fedora

Fedora is a Linux operating system with thousand of softwares for free . The sound ‘free’ means free to get & use, freedom to change & share. It’s free and really free from virus, spyware and maleware. A fedora suite consists of 10,000+ apps for computing purpose.

Fedora gives you wonderful graphical user interface. It has some cool desktop features like animated & slideshow background, power manager, disk utility, disk use  analyzer, network manager. With these desktop elements you’ll be able to connect with any network more easily, can see how much disk you used & how much free, customize how your fedora laptop behave in different battery charging or non-charging scenarios. Control how the screen dims and when the computer suspends, and more.


For office purpose Fedora has Libre office (a full feature office suite). LibreOffice Writer is a free word processor that allows you to open, create, modify, and print digital documents. It has a built-in PDF exporter, and it can open and save in Microsoft  format. LibreOffice Impress is to Open, create, and edit presentation slideshows & for to add slide transitions and download free slide templates. You may export presentations as PDF files for easy exchange. LibreOffice Calc is a part of the LibreOffice suite, Calc is a full-featured spreadsheet application. Crunch numbers or simply organize tabular information.

Rhythmbox plays CDs, internet radio, and podcasts, and it is also a music collection manager. Rhythmbox also has plugins for Last.fm, Jamendo (Creative Commons-licensed music), and Magnatune. It can play music from network too

Gimp a great photo editor & Inkscap is another cool software for vector graphics. These two app are carbon copy of Adobe photoshop & illustrator.

To editing video & sound Fedora has Pitivi Video editor & Audacity . Audacity is real alternate of Mac’s Garagband. Pitivi is really cool

Ubuntu Installation

There are many people interested to use ubuntu but don’t know how to get ubuntu. You’re reading this post means you know a little about ubuntu. You can check out the post ubuntu to know much. Ubuntu can be installed in three way on your PC.

1. Install as primary os OR along with Windows or Mac (Dual Boot)
2. Install in a virtual machine
3. Ubuntu windows installer (like windows app)

Let’s start from first……

In this installation method we need to download a disc image in .ISO format, then burn on a DVD/CD and boot from CD.

1. To download  .ISO file go to the following link

2. Here you have two option to download. One is latest version, which is currently released. And the other is LTS version, which is supported for three years from being released.
3. select your desired version then click the orange colored download button
4. The file start downloading. It may take few hour as the file size is about 700M
5. finishing download burn it to DVD/CD. You can use isoimageburn for to do so
6. Now boot from CD. Then restart your PC the following dialogue box appears. Select try ubuntu if you want to install ubuntu without any change of your current os. OR select install to install. Make sure your disk has partitioned properly if you want to use ubuntu along with Windows or Mac. Nor current os will erase.

7. Then select your language or which info want.
8. Restart PC again & get ubuntu installed                   

             

Fedora

Fedora formerly “fedora core” is a RPM based general purpose collection of software including an operating system based on Linux kernel, developed by community support & sponsored by Red Hat.

According to distrowatch.com fedora is the third most visited Linux based operating system. The Fedora project was created in late 2003 when Red Hat Linux was discontinued. The name Fedora derives from Fedora Linux, a volunteer project that provides extra software for 

Red Hat Linux distribution.

Warren Togami

Warren Togami began Fedora Linux in 2002 as an undergraduate project intended to  provide a single repository for well tested third-party software package.

The main purpose of fedora is that the updated version of software are used with every Fedora package. One of best object of Fedora is not only contain software under Free & Open Source Software Licensed, but also to be on the leading edge of such technologies. Fedora developers prefer to make up stream change instead of applying fixes specifically for Fedora.

The different between Red Hat and Fedora was that Fedora’s repository development would be collaborative with the global community.

Fedora was a trademark of Red Hat. But this had disputed by the creators of unrelated Fedora repository management software. Now Fedora project is governed by a board whose mostly is elected by The Fedora Community.
